The Sierra de los Cardos is located at the ends of the Sierra Madre Occidental and a few kilometers from the municipality of Jerez in the State of Zacatecas, Mexico. It is constituted by irregular geological formations.
It is located about 20 km west of the Mexican city of Jerez, Sierra de Cardos, named for the abundance of thistles that bloom in that mountain range.
The highlights of this mountain range are its imposing cliffs, of which the highest is “La Aguililla” with 2850 meters above sea level; “The Table of San Lucas” with 2930 meters; “La Culebra” that reaches 2860 meters and “El Picacho” with 2730 meters.
