The town of Dinamita was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by an American company with the objective of manufacturing the necessary explosives for mining activities in Mexico.

It was located in a remote area of the Lagunera District of Durango because the production of cotton from the zone provided one of the fundamental raw materials for the manufacture of explosives, glycerin; the population emerged as housing for the workers and all their activities depended on the dynamite company itself, being this originally Dupont and currently Austin Bacis.

At present, the decline in the demand for explosives manufactured in the area and competition have substantially reduced their activity and with it the economic activity of the population.
