Guanajuato’s Funicular

A funicular is a transport that is used mainly in very inclined places. It has two cabins connected by a cable on a railway track, elevator style, so that while one cabin goes up the other goes down, allowing to take advantage of potential energy. Cars usually share the same road except at the midpoint where it is divided so that they can pass at once.

The Funicular de Guanajuato was inaugurated in the year 2001; it is an attraction for many visitors while improving public transportation to access another important attraction that is “El Pípila” Statue.

The accesses to the Funicular are behind the Juarez Theater and next to the Pipila Monument. This panoramic tour allows you to observe the city from an unparalleled perspective.
