Spherical Rock Forest

This natural wonder is located in the municipality of Ahualulco de Mercado, in the Sierra de Ameca just two hours from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

The Sierra del Águila is where these unique and huge rocks known as Las Piedras Bola stand. Some are suspended on vertical rock bases, such as balancing sculptures; Its habitat has been decreed as a Protected Natural Area.

The majority of these rocky balls have a circumference of about 3.35 meters in diameter and in number they are about 17.

The inhabitants tell fascinating legends and stories involving extraterrestrial intervention about the origin of these misterious stones of several tons.

However, geologists believe that their formation dates back more than 40 million by the crystallization of volcanic ash.
