Elephant Stone

The geography of Mexico with its climates and natural conditions is expected would feature rare stone figures in unsuspected places. Sierra Tarahumara offers huge rock formations, endless forests, deep canyons and waterfalls.

There are gigantic upright rocks, some of which exceed 50 meters high. A few kilometers beyond from Creel, Chihuahua, is Arareko Lake, a beautiful body of water in the form of horseshoe.

On the side of the road is a large stone with a very peculiar shape, known as the ‘Elephant Stone’. It is a common stop for people traveling on the road as it gives the impression of meeting a petrified Asian elephant.
